What Is Plastic Extruder?A Comprehensive Guide

Today, we will introduce what is a plastic extruder? A comprehensive guide for you.plastic extruder

Types of plastic extruder:

The first type is single screw extruder.

Application of single screw extruder: extrusion of thermoplastics, such as PE ( From Wiki Article), PP, PS, PVC, ABS, PC, PET and other plastic materials.
With the help of relevant auxiliary equipment, it can produce various plastic products, such as plastic pipes, profiles, panels, sheets, plastic granules, etc.
Single screw extruders have the advantages of high output, excellent plasticization, low energy consumption, and smooth operation.

Single screw extruder gearbox: low noise, strong load-bearing capacity, and long service life;
Screw and barrel: made of 38CrMoAlA and nitrided;
The motor adopts Siemens standard motor;
The frequency converter adopts ABB frequency converter; the temperature controller adopts Omron/RKC;
Low voltage electrical is from Schneider Electric.

According to different requirements, use PLC touch screen to control the extruder and panel control the extruder. The screw can use high speed screw to achieve higher output.

The second type is twin screw extruder.

Twin screw extruder components: barrel screw, gear transmission system, quantitative feeding, vacuum exhaust, heating, cooling and electronic control.

The twin screw extruder is suitable for mixing powder to produce PVC products. It is a special equipment for extrusion of PVC powder or WPC powder.

It has the advantages of good compounding, large output, smooth operation and long service life.
With different molds and downstream equipment, it can produce PVC pipes, PVC ceilings, PVC window profiles, PVC sheets, WPC decorative panels, PVC granules, etc.

What are the advantages of plastic extruder?

(1) Improve process production efficiency: The positive displacement conveying effect of the screw can handle more diverse raw materials and mixing formulas with short downtime.

(2) Higher economy: Higher productivity allows the production of a wider range of end products with guaranteed quality.

What are the advantages of twin screw extruders compared to single screw extruders?

Firstly, mixing performance: According to the principle of mutual meshing of two screws, various thread elements need to be added.
Such as counter-threaded components, meshing disc components, toothed disc components, etc.
This allows precise adjustment of shear, allowing effective control of mixing intensity and mixing quality (whether distributive or dispersive mixing).
This is something that a single-screw extruder cannot achieve.

Nex, processing flexibility: Co-rotating twin-screw extruders often feature metered hunger feeding.
The output depends on the feeding amount, has nothing to do with the screw speed, and is an independently controllable variable.
Therefore, a variety of processes can be flexibly performed on one machine, with functions such as melting, mixing, exhausting, and reaction.

Finally, controllability of process parameters: The residence time distribution of the co-rotating twin-screw extruder is narrow, the convection heat transfer effect is better, and the temperature curve control is precise.
A better shear-time-temperature process can be obtained during the extrusion process, and mechanical energy can be input within a wider range, thereby obtaining better product quality stability.
